This monograph examines specific steps employers can take that provide a framework to create successful mental health benefits programs for companies of all sizes. Although more research is needed to fully understand the indirect costs of mental disorders in the workplace and the savings associated with their treatment many leading employers have moved ahead in addressing the situation on the basis of existing information. This monograph gives several examples of employers that have made successful mental health outreach efforts. With these suggested areas of action, businesses can empower their employees to take control of their mental health with positive benefits for all.

Profiles of Organizations Using Quality Incentives
On behalf of the National Health Care Purchasing Institute, Bailit Health Purchasing has profiled 14 organizations, including insurers, purchasers, and employer coalitions, that have implemented incentive programs with managed care organizations and providers. These innovative purchasers and insurers have developed financial and non-financial incentives to reward quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and administrative services. Each of them has demonstrated that such incentives can improve health care quality. Can be accessed as PDF or on the web.
